Become an Orchid Expert with the Help of This Free, Monthly Class Offering
The South Texas Botanical Gardens & Nature Center is a 182-acre informal, environmental education destination in Oso Creek showcasing it’s “Flora, Fauna, and Fun” approach to nature tourism! Highlighting the screened Butterfly House, Orchid and Bromeliad Conservatories, majestic Rose Garden, and seasonal Plumeria Garden, visitors also can admire Sensory Garden “artscape” and diversity of quaint Hummingbird, desert Arid, and lush Tropical Gardens. Resident reptiles and vibrant exotic parrots provide learning elements and entertainment not found at typical botanical gardens.
This beautiful, educational venue is a memorable destination for school tours, tourists, residents, garden enthusiasts, birdwatchers, artists, families out for a relaxing change of pace, wedding, and party venues. We are open daily from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM. General admission is $8.00 for adults, $6.00 for seniors, active military, and college students, and $4.00 for children 3 to 12.
Of course, we encourage all visitors to wander through the current exhibit, but our monthly Orchid Class Series is where it’s at! Our class is catered towards novice to experienced growers with Orchid Curator, Sam Jones, in the Education Station classroom. Monthly topics range from different orchid genera to specific orchid culture techniques, and best of all, it’s free for all orchid lovers! Orchids will be for sale at most meetings as well. For information, call 361-290-7429.
Even though Sutton Place Apartments in Corpus Christi, Texas provides you with all of the comfort, convenience, and entertainment you could possibly desire, we encourage our residents to venture outside of our apartment community and explore all that the city has to offer!
